The documentary project Vrajitoare is Vera Lacková’s second feature film. Having presented the stories of Romanypartisans in her first movie How I Became a Partisan, Vera brings in the topic of Romany witchcraft and mysticism. We aim to look at Romany’s ethnic group from a new perspective and provide a reflection of the insufficiently explored phenomena of Romany mysticism. The goal is to present strong feministic evidence of the social role of Romany women and question deep-rooted stereotypes about them with the help of Romany witches. This movie tells the stories of three protagonists (SK, CZ, AT) who visit these witches, asking them for their prophecy. Will these prophecies come true?
