How I Became a Partisan
This documentary tells the stories of Romany, who laid down their lives for freedom, in Resistance, sinking into oblivion and thus dying again. The topic of this documentary is closely related to the director´s family. Her grandmother told her the story of her great grandfather, a Romany partisan. His six-member family got slaughtered due to his participation in the Resistance during thewar, and he ended up in a concentration camp. The director guides spectators through the document herself, revealing her story, meeting people in deeply emotional situations and walking us through various archives and long-forgotten history. The world premiere of the movie took place at the German festival goEast, where it was presented in the main category. It gained one of its most prestigious awards, the Award of the Federal Foreign Office for Cultural Diversity.
